Villas Marineras [en]

“Villas Marineras” (Marine towns) is the association of 17 tourist towns full of tradition and culture linked to the sea, located in the geographical context of the Atlantic  – Cantabrian coast.

Galicia: Baiona, Sanxenxo, Sada, Ortigueira, Viveiro and Ribadeo.

Asturias : Cudillero, Gijón, Ribadesella and Llanes

Cantabria: San Vicente de la Barquera, Santoña and Laredo.

Basque Country: Bermeo, Lekeitio, Getaria and Hondarribia.

The municipality of Sanxenxo belongs to this partnership since the year 2,000. Each village is represented by the mayor or person who represent him.

The purposes for which it was founded the association are: 

To be a network for the exchange of experiences and cooperation in promotion.

Improve the resources and capabilities of the municipalities to the hour of manage aspects related to services for the resident and floating population.

Participate as a network in the promotion lines and in proceedings promoted from the  State Secretariat  and from the autonomous governments belonging to the Green Spain.

Raise awareness and promote coordination between local, regional and state tourism promotion.

As a channel of expression, coordination and management of initiatives in the field of tourism and sustainable development.

Promote, develop and coordinate the participation of the municipalities partners in European programs.

As a channel of expression of the  partners common tourism policy.
